Decoding Mind and Brain
Decoding ADHD Paralysis and the Neuroscience of Action
Stuck, Not Lazy
Stuck, Not Lazy explores one of the most misunderstood experiences in mental health: the feeling of being mentally ‘stuck’ despite knowing what needs to be done. Drawing on psychiatry, neuroscience, and clinical insight, the book examines how the brain moves from intention to action, and why that process can sometimes fail.
Rather than framing these struggles as a lack of willpower or discipline, the book looks at the underlying neurobiology of executive function, motivation, and behavioural initiation.
Dr Mohammed Lashkri
Dr Mohammed Lashkri is a psychiatrist and clinical researcher at the University of Oxford. His current clinical work focuses on treatment-resistant depression, where he works with patients whose symptoms have not responded to standard treatments.
Alongside this work, he has studied neurodevelopmental conditions in depth and developed a strong interest in how differences in brain development influence attention, motivation, and behaviour across the lifespan.
At the centre of his intellectual interests is neuropsychopharmacology — the study of how brain chemistry and medication interact with the neural systems involved in mental health disorders. Through clinical practice and public writing, he aims to help people better understand the biological and neurological mechanisms that shape mental health conditions.
